Delhi Police has arrested a 20-year-old youth on charges of bike theft. The young man stole the bike from near the Civil Lines metro station to take his newly married wife on a bike ride. Police arrested the accused from Luni, 18 kilometers away, with the help of more than 200 CCTV cameras.

Delhi Police has arrested a 20-year-old youth on charges of bike theft. The accused had taken this step to fulfill his wife’s insistence. The wife wanted to go on a bike ride, but did not have her own bike.

According to the police, the name of the accused is Qamar Alam who lives in Aman Colony of Ghaziabad. He wages in a factory in Luni. On May 15, while he was returning from Kashmiri Gate ISBT, he stole one of the many bikes parked near Gate No. 3 of the Civil Lines Metro Station with a duplicate key.

Bike owner Azad Singh filed a bike theft complaint the same day. After this, the police started the investigation. Police searched more than 200 CCTV footage to find out the location of the accused. Through the footage, the police tracked down the antics of the accused and caught him on 20 May from Luni, 18 kilometers away.

Police have also recovered the stolen bike and his number plate from the accused, which he had removed to hide the identity. Police say he was also trying to sell bikes so as not to get caught.
